The Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest located in N.C., just minutes off the Cherohala Skyway near Robbinsville, N.C. An outstanding Example of cove hardwood virgin forest. Named after the soldier and poet Joyce Kilmer, best known for his poem "Trees". Part of Joyce Kilmer-Slickrock Wilderness.

Indian Boundary Lake  just off the Skyway, 14 miles from Tellico Plains, Tennessee. Camping, fishing & swimming available. It has a 3 1/2 mile hiking and bicycle trail that surrounds the lake.

The Tellico Ranger District Ranger Station, located in the Cherokee National Forest near Tellico Plains. The ranger station was recently restored to its near original 1930's condition. 1/2 mile off Skyway.

Hooper Bald in NC, just a short walk off the Cherohala Skyway. Over A mile high in elevation. Picnic tables at the trailhead.

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Approximately a 1 hour drive from the Skyway. One of the most visited parks in the U.S.
